residencies - frequently asked questions

Why should I pay for support when I'm not having problems?

Because in the long run, you'll pay less. IT companies are well aware of the fact that when something is broken and needs to be fixed now, they have the power - they can charge any outrageous hourly rates they wish, and you have no time to shop around for the best price - you just want to get the problem fixed ASAP.

By proactively resolving as many problems as you can, at a very reasonable hourly rate, you're going to come out ahead financially. And consider the hourly cost of lost productivity if all of your staff are sitting around for 4 hours, unable to work because a server is down - all because of a minor problem that could have easily been resolved - proactively.

What happens if we have major IT problems when the consultant is not here?

Even if you have a consultant regularly visit your company and proactively resolve issues, there are going to be times when you have major problems - when the consultant is not on site. It's an inevitability - some things cannot be proactively resolved. Consider the car servicing analogy again. It's like blowing a head gasket - nearly impossible to predict when it's going to happen.

If you have IT problems that need to be addressed urgently, an alternative it consultant will be there to fix the problems as soon as possible - and, as a valued customer, you receive priority service over other customers and 10% off the normal hourly rate for callouts.
